Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with line/sectoral departments to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Hornbill Festival 2023 at Bamboo Heritage Hall, Kisama on Friday, a DIPR report stated.
During the meeting, Rio expressed happiness at progress of work for the ensuing mega annual event and informed the officials that many guests, including officials from other countries, would be attending it. He urged all concerned to sincerely look into various problems and issues for the successful hosting of the festival.
Stressing on cleanliness, he called upon the gathering to generate awareness, urging locals to help and cater to the needs of the tourists for them to have a pleasant stay and take away good memories of Nagaland. He also appealed to the business community to sell quality products at competitive prices.
Rio appreciated the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) for resolving to participate in the Hornbill Festival. Acknowledging the progress made over the years in successfully organising the annual mega festival, he hoped the 25th edition of the festival in 2024 would be even more successful. He expressed the confidence that this year’s edition too would be celebrated in a grand manner.
The chief minister also inspected and took stock of the work progress and preparations at Kisama. Accompanying Rio, Tourism minister Temjen Imna Along appreciated the chief minister for envisioning the Hornbill Festival and bringing all tribes together to showcase their rich culture and traditions, besides providing a platform to local entrepreneurs.
He also appreciated the line departments for their efforts to make the festival a success, directing the officials to continue their good work.
Chief secretary J Alam highlighted the progress of the works carried out by departments concerned. With the participation of all tribes, he remarked that this year’s festival would be celebrated in a grand manner.
He called upon everyone to showcase the state in the best light, claiming that all departments concerned were working hard to the best of their ability.
Officials from the line departments such as Tourism, Art & Culture, Agri & Allied, etc, highlighted about the progress and activities to be taken up by them. Vote of thanks was proposed by secretary, Tourism.
CM inaugurates food and music fest at Imagi.land
Meanwhile, the chief minister inaugurated the Food and Music Festival at Imagi.land, Kisama during in the run-up to the Hornbill Festival.
The two-day event would include live music concerts, food stalls, kids’ carnival, art installations and book corner, among others. The annual event is being organised by Nagaland Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
