Nagaland chief minister, T.R. Zeliang has appealed to the public to remain calm during the transition period of forming the new government. In a statement, Zeliang said with the support of the people, they were able to come this far. “And as we prepare to enter a new era of peace, progress and all round development, I take this opportunity to assure you all, hope for a better tomorrow, where my government will work towards all round development with renewed vigor based on Christian ethos and principles,” he said.
He also sought for forgiveness for any shortcoming on the part of the government.
Zeliang also expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the government for the faith reposed on him and his government. He further sought the support, cooperation and prayers to move towards greater heights.
He said the responsibility for good governance does not lie with the government alone but with all section of society including the Church, media, NGOs and most importantly the public.
“The essence of good governance is trust and I appeal for it, my dear citizens,” he added.
