Chakhesang Mother’s Association (CMA) has condemned the murder of late Lisila Chakhesang, who was allegedly killed by her husband on May 18.
In a press release, CMA president Zaposhelii Venuh and secretary Wecheteu Khape described the incident as “unjustifiable under any circumstances.” The association urged the authorities to take prompt action against the perpetrator and also appealed to the government, civil society organisations and right thinking individuals to work collaboratively to ensure no such crime was repeated in the future. Stating that crimes against women were social crimes, which disrupt the entire social fabric, CMA said women must take proactive role in learning and exercising their rights as per the constitution and reach out and support the victims.
The association also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
