Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees Association (CANSSEA) has expressed concern over the ongoing impasse between Future Generali India Insurance (FGII) and the empanelled hospitals under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and sought urgent intervention of the state government.
In a press release, CANSSEA press secretary Siewatho Nyuthu, informed that the confederation led by its president Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao, adviser Dr. Ilang, and executive members, held a detailed discussion with the chief executive officer of Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) Thavaseelan K, at its headquarters on April 17, 2025.
At the meeting, CANSSEA expressed deep concern over the issue, which has caused disruption in healthcare services for beneficiaries, particularly affecting state employees and the general public.
After through the deliberation, CANSSEA said it came to understand the core of the problem. It noted that out of a total claim amount of Rs.178.96 crore over the past year (April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025), Rs.147.65 crore have been approved for payment by FGI while the remaining claims were under process.
CANSSEA also noted that Rs.99.28 crore had been disbursed to the empanelled hospitals. However, a pending amount of Rs.48.81 crore was yet to be paid by FGII, creating a serious financial strain on the hospitals, CANSSEA noted.
In light of the above, CANSSEA has urged the state government to step in with a temporary financial arrangement to bridge the gap and support the empanelled hospitals until the matter was resolved.
It said government’s intervention would help ensure the continuity of services under CMHIS and alleviate the current burden. Though there were hiccups to this nascent scheme, CANSSEA expressed hope that the issues would be fully resolved shortly.
It said CMHIS holds great promise benefiting state employees and the public at large. “Once the authority resolves the current situation, faster claim settlements and wider scope of healthcare services will help the beneficiaries,” CANSSEA added.
Further, CANSSEA has appealed to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, National Health Authority, and the State Government to take timely action to resolve the matter with FGII and restore normalcy in the functioning of CMHIS.
