CNCCI appeals govt to assist MMC fire victims

The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has expressed deep pain over the fire that broke out at MMC Shopping Complex in Mokokchung on February 3 in which 62 shops were razed, while 73 shops were partially burnt, resulting in losses to the tune of many crores of rupees.

CNCCI chairman Dr Khekugha Muru and general secretary Dr Seyievilie Mor in a press release stated that they were deeply pained not only at the material loss, but also concerned about the livelihood of hundreds of families that had been affected and also for those involved in the indirect support system of the business ecosystem that could further involve hundreds of families.
As a business community, they said the CNCCI deeply understood the hardship and difficult times that the fellow business community was going through.

On behalf of the business community of Nagaland, they mentioned that the CNCCI joined in the pain and suffering of the fellow businessmen and businesswomen of MMC complex. “We pray that God almighty will give them strength and ways to tide over the unfortunate incident,” they stated.

CNCCI also urged the state government to look into the matter not only as a mere fire incident, but from a humane angle as the businesses supported livelihoods of hundreds of families, generated hundreds of employment and supported hundreds of indirect employment.
They urged the government to stand up to the occasion and provide every best possible support to the fire victims financially, materially, and provide linkages to access bank loans and credit facilities to start afresh.

They said they strongly believed that a such magnanimous move by the state government would in the long run give a sense of security to the younger generation to venture into the entrepreneurship, as it would send a positive message about the seriousness of the government in holding hands of business community in times of crises and losses.
