CNCCI calls off state-wide shutter down strike

In a significant development, the Confederation of Nagaland Chambers of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) has announced its decion to call off the ongoing state-wide indefinite shutter down. This decision follows the assurance from the state government of fulfilling the 5-point charter of demands submitted by the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (DCCI).


CNCCI chairman Dr. Khekugha Muru and general secretary Dr. Seyievilie Mor emphasized that the issues raised by the DCCI were pertinent to Nagaland as a whole, urging the government to implement its decisions uniformly across the state. They commended the government for acknowledging the grievances of the business community and convening a cabinet meeting to address them.
Expressing gratitude, they lauded the efforts of the deputy commissioner and commissioner of police for their tireless work in redressing the concerns of the business community. Despite limitations, they affirmed their commitment to safeguarding the interests of businesses and pledged cooperation with the authorities in the future.


Acknowledging the solidarity of the 16 district chambers of commerce and the overwhelming support from across Nagaland, the CNCCI leaders highlighted the dire situation faced by the business community due to rampant taxation and extortion.
The CNCCI credited citizens for their resounding support, sending a clear message that empty promises would no longer be tolerated.


CNCCI extended their appreciation to tribal apex bodies, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) for their unwavering support and guidance. They underscored the importance of addressing citizen grievances at the nascent stage to prevent escalation.
Furthermore, CNCCI reiterated its long-standing demand concerning the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department, and submitted to the chief minister, adviser Urban Development and chief secretary and appended by the 16 district chambers was yet to be addressed.
CNCCI warned that unless the demands were acted upon with utmost seriousness it would have no hesitation to again call for a statewide stir.
