CNTC appeals for peace amid Yimkhiung-Tikhir tensions

DIMAPUR, OCT 13 (NPN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has appealed to the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities to end violence and exercise restraint amid the recent tensions, urging both sides to uphold their longstanding bonds of brotherhood and work towards reconciliation.
In a statement, CNTC expressed deep pain over the loss of life, injuries to innocent people, burning of homes and displacement of families, calling for an immediate end to violence and further bloodshed.
The council urged members of both communities to restrain their anger, choose peace over retaliation and remember the close ties of blood, history and culture that bind them. It stated that true courage lay in protecting lives, forgiving and healing rather than striking back.
CNTC also appealed to the leaders, elders and youth of both communities to guide their people with wisdom and compassion, protect the vulnerable and restore peace.
The council called upon the state government and district administrations to act with urgency and fairness to ensure the safety of all, provide immediate relief to affected families and create space for genuine dialogue.
Stating that the Naga spirit was rooted in resilience, forgiveness and kinship, CNTC expressed hope that these values would bring comfort to grieving families, strength to displaced people and reconciliation between the two closely related tribes.
The council appealed for the restoration of peace and the strengthening of the longstanding bond of brotherhood between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities.
