While appreciating the State government for approving scale of pay demanded by aggrieved ad hoc teachers under the banner of All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch, Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) voiced its concern on the plight of teachers under various categories and asked the government to be sincere on its assurances and implement them fully in letter and spirit.
In a statement issued by its Media Cell on Thursday, CNTC stated that teachers under different categories in Nagaland were often compelled by circumstances to vent out their grievances by resorting to democratic mode of agitations in order to let their voices be heard by authorities as they had no other ways and means. Considered as a noble profession by many and nation builders around the world, it was painful to see the suffering and despair of many teachers in “our State” due to various anomalies and irregularities, it added.
Appealing to the government to regularise appointments of ad hoc teachers of 2015 batch at the earliest as they had already cleared their suitability tests and were now only awaiting cabinet approval, the council expressed full solidarity with the aggrieved teachers.
Meanwhile, CNTC also expressed shock at the office memorandum that proposed deduction of salaries of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers of 2016 batch or face termination from services.
As these teachers, whose salaries were irregularly paid and delayed, were facing great hardships and burdened with rising prices of all essential commodities and high cost of living, the council appealed to the government to seriously consider their demand.
