Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) and Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) have lauded the state cabinet decision to revoke the Rongmei tribe recognition.
CNTC media cell pointed out that the issue, which had created a lot of uproar in the state by the Nagas of Nagaland, has now been finally understood by the state cabinet on the future ramifications and consequences of granting indigenous tribe status from other states.
Praising chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu for exercising his wisdom and demonstrating his able leadership, CNTC said a seasoned statesmanship and far-sightedness leader had taken a very prudent action judiciously in revoking the beleaguered decision that brought lot of discord and dissension from the civil societies of the state.
CNTC however, cautioned that the figure of 1313 Rongmei indigenous inhabitants was only an administrative survey report.
“Those antecedents must be proved warily with the right standard procedures applied in order to be awarded the indigenous status so that the decision taken will benefit the genuine indigenous inhabitants,’ CNTC added.
The council hoped that Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu further work on the other contentious issues of Nagas of Nagaland without any fear or favour.
NGBF: Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has lauded the state government headed by chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu “for settling the issue Rongmei’s recognition controversy in an unbiased manner”.
Nagaland GB Federation president Shaleem Konyak and general secretary Shikuto Zalipu said that the cabinet decision stood on fairness, justice and upheld the law of the land.
NGBF also acknowledged “the maturity shown by NTC and CNTC in supporting the rights of the genuine indigenous Rongmeis (1313)” and congratulated the genuine 1313 indigenous forum a bright future and appealed for co-operation towards working together for better Nagaland.
