Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) during its meeting with all its constituents units – Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho – at Hotel Saramati on Saturday reaffirmed its earlier resolution to disassociate from Naga Hoho till its constitution was thoroughly restructured and one that was acceptable to all through a general consensus.
According to a statement issued by its media cell, CNTC also resolved to ask the State government to expedite amendment of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001 taking into account views and suggestions of tribes’ hohos and civil societies. While reiterating that it was still opposed to any type of reservation policy in local body elections, the council, however, clarified that it supported women nominees chosen from various backgrounds like national and State awardees, experts and luminaries from different backgrounds by a committee.
CNTC also expressed its firm opposition to any kind of taxes on land and buildings as, according to the council, directly infringed on the provisions under Article 371A.
