A co-ordination meeting on monitoring, evaluation study and documentation on the progress of the farmers through Sub-Mission on Agricultural Machanisation (SMAM) was held at the conferences hall of directorate of Agriculture, Kohima on Wednesday.
Speaking in the programme, director of Agriculture, M. Ben Yanthan stated that production in respective of food grains projected till 2018-2019 was 7,390,30 MT only.
But the focus of the department was that by 2025 it should achieved sufficiently in food grains production in the state, he said.
Therefore, he reminded the staff to rededicate and improve their work ethics with accountability and transparency to achieve the targets.
He also urged the officers to uphold their teamwork, inorder to bring out concrete reports.
Dy. director, Burwati Longkumer speaking on sensitisation on monitoring and evaluation study, which is yet to be conducted said that the evaluation was to be completed by March 20 in the state.
He said that SMAM is being implemented through the State department of Agriculture of all States, Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institutes and the ICAR.
Longkumer said since Northeast region was substantially lower compared to developed countries it was necessary to promote farm machanisation as a special mission and accordingly SMAM has been conceived and implemented during the Xll plan.
