Deputy chief minister, T.R. Zeliang on Monday described the cock symbol as a “wake-up call for the Nagas” which, he said, has survived many ups and downs over the years.
Zeliang was addressing party workers at the oath-taking ceremony of NPF Peren division held at NPF Conference Hall, Jalukie.
According to the media cell of Dy.CMO, over 400 newly selected office bearers of Peren division, Peren assembly constituency, Tening assembly constituency, women’s wing, youth wing and other frontal organisations took oath of allegiance.
Reminding party workers that NPF is the second oldest surviving regional party in India, Zeliang said the party has come a long way in serving the Naga people. He asserted that it was the duty of every Naga to strengthen NPF.
He called upon party workers to uphold party principles and serve the people with sincerity and honesty. Zeliang also urged them to respect and trust one another and maintain personal integrity for the sake of the party.
The programme was chaired by Iherie Ndang, vice president, CoB, while oath-taking was administered by Hupun Zeliang, vice president, CoB. Namri Nchang MLA also spoke on the occasion.
