Coffee growers participate at ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

As part of the 75 years celebration of India’s Independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme was organized by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India along with the Coffee Board of India and department of Land Resources, Kohima at Kohima Village Council Hall on September 26. 

60 coffee growers from Kohima village participated in the programme. 

The programme was chaired by APO, department of Land Resources, Kohima, Sentinungla while welcome address was delivered by District Project Officer, Land Resources, Kohima, Dr. Menuosietuo Tseikha.

Keynote address was delivered by Junior Liaison Officer, Coffee Board of India, Uday Pandit. 

He shared about the prospects of Coffee plantation as a means for sustenance of economy and environmental protection.  

He also encouraged the coffee growers to maintain the organic conditions in the plantations which would be viable for organic GI certification to enhance the quality and price value of the coffee that is produced in the state.

An interactive session was also held whereby the coffee growers shared their experiences and clearing of doubts with the resource person. Tools were also distributed to the coffee growers by the Coffee Board of India. The programme ended with light refreshment where the participants were served coffee in tune with the Land Resources Department’s Slogan “Drink what you Grow”.
