A consultative workshop of stakeholders under the theme, “Developing Collaboration for Children’s Rights” on May 28 at Phek Town Council Hall underscored society’s collective responsibility to safeguard all children’s rights, promoting equal treatment and protection for a better future.
The workshop organised by the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) was graced by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam, as the special guest.
A press release by DAN stated that during the workshop, DC Phek emphasised the importance of children’s rights and equal treatment for all children.
“While being protective of our own children, we frequently overlook other children’s rights, leading to abuse and mistreatment. We must treat all children equally, as our behaviour teaches our own children how to treat others,” said Sangtam.
Sangtam cautioned that children often imitate the behaviour of the people around them, especially parents, without knowing if the behaviour is good or bad.
Therefore, he called for reflection on one’s own behaviour and creating a conducive environment for children to grow up with a positive attitude.
