Colloquium on peace-building & peace showcase

An inter-school “peace colloquium on peace building and peace showcase” was organised by Peace Channel Peren Chapter on April 29 at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie.
The resource persons were Christian School, headmaster, Peidoding Heraang and Peace Channel, project coordinator, RK Janthuiyang John.
Speaking on the topic, “peace and peace-building in our society”, Heraang stressed on the importance of peace-building through moral purity. He projected the students and youths as a strong force in bringing about change in our broken society. 
He also urged the students in building and spreading peace by being responsible students, resolving conflict in their own capacities and not giving a blind eye to the element leading to distortion in society. 
Heraang also acknowledged the founder of Peace Channel, Dr. Fr. CP Anto and encouraged the students to carry forward the legacy.
R. K Janthuiyang John also spoke on the values to attain inner peace which consisted of love, sacrifice, empathy, equality, discipline, generosity and justice. He added that in order to achieve universal peace, it should start from oneself which would slowly expand to the family, community, religion and the world at large. 
Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by Khenenle, teacher animator, SXHSS and words on behalf of SXHSS was delivered by Fr. Salas Ngade, vice principal. A multimedia presentation on Peace Channel was also presented and the vote of thanks was pronounced by P David Ndang, Peace Channel, Peren district coordinator.
The program was attended by more than 210 participants of six peace clubs established schools in Jalukie, specifically, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School, Christian School, Ibaung Thou Memorial School, Ikiesing Memorial School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Peren.
