Taking serious note of the health hazards to residents, chairmen of four colonies– Hector Sema (United North Block-A), N. Humtsoe (United North Block-B), Thempu (Sunrise Colony) and Denise Iheilung (Naga Colony) have reminded parliamentary secretary for Municipal Affairs, Tohanba to shift the Dimapur garbage dumping area from the present site. In a joint statement, the chairmen informed that they met Tohanba and Municipal officials at the DMC office and reminded him of the earlier representation submitted to the chief minister on May 30.
They said that the chief minister acknowledged their grievances and sought time till December, 2015. The garbage dumping site, in the vicinity of the settlement areas of Dhansiri River, has caused untold miseries– foul smell, nuisance caused by house flies, unhygienic surroundings, causing water and air pollution to the colonies for many years, they pointed out.
