Combat Academy fighters shine at ‘Manipur Pride: Rise of Warriors’

Three fighters from The Combat Academy, Nagaland showcased their skills at the first edition of “Manipur Pride: Rise of Warriors”, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event held at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal. The competition featured both professional and semi-professional bouts, highlighting emerging talent and seasoned fighters from across the region.
In a professional bout, Thanmi Angkang delivered a composed and strategic performance against Rajat Diwedi of Pune, securing a submission victory in the third round. His win demonstrated technical precision and resilience, earning applause from the crowd.
Imkummendang Ozukum, who stepped in as a late replacement for teammate Lichonthung Lotha (withdrawn due to injury), fought valiantly in his contest. Despite a spirited showing, he lost via a controversial split decision, a verdict that drew mixed reactions from spectators.
Meanwhile, Shanchui Zimik, originally from Manipur and having completed his training camp at The Combat Academy, thrilled the home crowd with a spectacular first-round knockout victory over Manish Kumar of Delhi. His emphatic finish underscored his striking power and confidence inside the cage.
