Government of Nagaland would be observing the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first home minister of Independent India, as National Unity Day and National Re-Dedication Day to commemorate the death anniversary of late prime minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 2018.
Accordingly, the state government has directed all government offices/directorates/deputy commissioners and SPs to organize events on that day such as pledge taking for National Unity Day and National Re-Dedication Day as per the pledge; run for unity at district HQs and state HQ to be coordinated by respective DCs/SPs/PHQ/YRS; march past in the evening at various police/battalion HQs; essay competition to be organised by school education department on the topic “National Unity Day” for students of Class 8 to Class 12.
Further, the home commissioner has requested all responsible to take necessary action and the report on activities organised along with the photographs to be submitted after observance of the day.
In the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, the programme would be held at the conference hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat at 1pm.
