Combined Technical Association of Nagaland, student leader demand timely scholarship release

CorrespondentKOHIMA, NOV 11 (NPN)

Student activist Kepozo Kapuh, joined by members of the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), held a joint press conference at Oakland Boutique, Kohima, on Tuesday, demanding the timely release of scholarships and expressing strong dissatisfaction over delays by the Department of Higher Education.
Kapuh, who has been vocal on the issue, alleged that the partial disbursement of scholarships to a few students ahead of the planned protest was a deliberate move to disperse the crowd. “Nice play. You knew our numbers would be large today. You knew people were agitated. So a small amount was given to a few students to defuse the protest,” he stated.
He said the focus should not be on celebrating the release to a few beneficiaries, but on questioning the delay and its impact on students’ academic morale. Kapuh expressed disappointment over the lack of accountability, stating that students are expected to be punctual, and the same should be expected from government officials and administrators.
“Our message to all—from the smallest to the highest in the administrative ladder—is that you are paid not for prestige or comfort, but to deliver with efficiency and punctuality,” he said.
The student body has issued a deadline, demanding that all scholarships be released by November 14. Failing this, Kapuh warned that any action taken by students thereafter would be the responsibility of the government. He clarified that his efforts were not for publicity, but in genuine concern for the student community.
