The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) announced a sharp hike in the price of commercial LPG cylinders, with the 19‑kg cylinder rising by ₹993 to ₹3,071.5 in Delhi effective Friday. This marks the third increase since February 28, following earlier hikes of ₹115 in March and nearly ₹200 on April 1. However, IOC clarified that there is no change in domestic LPG cylinder prices for 33 crore household consumers. Petrol and diesel rates also remain unchanged despite elevated global energy prices, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines were left untouched to shield carriers and passengers.
The government has introduced export levies on petrol, diesel, and ATF from March 27, 2026, to ensure domestic availability amid the West Asia crisis. For the fortnight beginning May 1, the duty on diesel exports will be ₹23 per litre, while ATF exports will attract ₹33 per litre, with petrol exports continuing at nil duty. IOC noted that fuel prices are revised fortnightly based on average international crude and product prices, with the last revision on April 11. Officials emphasized that excise duty rates on petrol and diesel for domestic consumption remain unchanged, underscoring efforts to balance global price pressures with domestic stability.
