DIMAPUR: Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso, MLA of 9 Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, has said that the absence of an assigned government portfolio has limited his ability to serve the people and address their aspirations in various ways.
Speaking at a free medical health camp organised under his initiative at New Reserve Panchayat Hall, Ward No. 16, on Saturday, Ato said that despite such limitations, he remained committed to finding ways to contribute to public welfare. “I have my concern to help the people in various ways,” he stated.
He noted that with the support of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, he had travelled across different tribal communities and extended assistance to people from various sections. He assured that he would continue to work in the interest of the people and honour the trust placed in him by the electorate.
Highlighting his healthcare outreach, Ato said that under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT) initiative, he and medical teams had conducted health camps at 25 locations across Nagaland. He added that similar programmes would continue in other wards of Kohima.
The medical camp at New Reserve provided blood tests, ultrasound, ENT screening, dental check ups, consultations and medicines. Home services were extended to bedridden and elderly patients, while cervical screening through Pap smear, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and specialist consultations were also made available.
Vincent Belho, general manager of the Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland State Branch, stressed the importance of cervical cancer awareness, early screening, HPV vaccination and HIV prevention through Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).
The programme was chaired by Thepfuneisa Sileo, with blessings invoked by Rev. Tho o Neihu. Keneizekho Sopfii spoke on behalf of the Lerie Chazou Youth and New Reserve Youth Organization, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Petevilie Livi, chairman of Lerie Chazou Council.
