Common platform held at two A/Cs

A “Common Platform Speech” for 4 Ghaspani 1 and Kohima Town 9 Assembly Constituencies were organized by Khaghaboto Area Students Union (KASU) and concerned Kohima youths at Khaghaboto town public ground and Kohima Heritage on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
4 Ghaspani 1 A/C: The contesting candidates for 4 Ghaspani 1 A/C are Jacob Zhimomi (BJP), Akavi N Zhimomi (Congress), Vikato S Aye (NPF), Imsumongba Pongen JD (U) and V Phushika Awomi (Independent).
With five contesting candidates, the programme was attended by two contesting candidates namely Akavi N Zhimomi from Congress and V Phushika Awomi from Independent.
The duo explained on why they decided to contest in the ensuing assembly election, shared their visions and objectives for the constituency if they were elected.
Akavi Zhimomi while sharing his vision said that he has joined the electoral fray to bring “change” not only in sense of development but also the whole election system in Nagaland.
He said that he believes and stands for clean election and assured that given a chance to represent his constituency people in the assembly, he would do his level best to bring development with special focus on empowerment of the youth.
Independent candidate, V Phushika Awomi, during his address stated that if given people’s mandate, he would work hand-in-hand with the people to bring development and bring about change.
He also said that his main focus will be to provide practical creation of avenues for the unemployed youth.
The programme was chaired by KASU education secretary Vivito V Yeputho, welcome address was delivered by KASU president Kato A Yepthomi, vote of thanks was delivered by KASU vice president Limugha H Chophi and benediction was offered by PGBA pastor Rev. Akheto Yeptho.
Kohima Town 9 A/C: Concerned Kohima youths organized a common platform for the three contesting candidates of Kohima Town 9 A/C with sitting MLA NDPP Dr. Nicky Kire, KOHIMAS MD, Dr. Tsielhoutuo Ato Rhutso and Er. Meshenlo Kath to share their views and opinions for the welfare of the constituency in general.
Dr. Ato urged the voters to allow him a chance to be the mouthpiece of the common people in the government during the assembly and share their grievances and represent them.
He shared that employability was more important than any degree and urged the youth to skill oneself and prepare for the opportunities ahead, to be a job provider and not a job seeker.
He also delved on the need for transparency and accountability in governance and disclosed that the main reason for contesting was for the youth and for the needy in the society.
With water problems as a major crisis in Kohima, he shared his ideas that similar to village style, water could be distributed to all khels and sectors all over the capital and especially highlighted on equal distribution of rations across the town.
Candidate Er. Meshenlo Kath, emphasized ideas for the youth such as Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), which is a central sector scheme administered by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), offering such as barber shop, broom for their empowerment and the ideas to implement it.
Er. Kath also appealed to all like-minded citizens to come forward in order to bring good governance in the state and called upon all the young people to join hands in choosing the right candidate to bring a change in the society.
“We tend to bring the issue to tribal lines, due to which we were not growing in the society”, he added.
With a motive to bring change, transparency in all sectors irrespective of the background, Er. Kath urged to give a chance to the youths and to the deserving.
Third candidate, Dr. Nicky Kire was unable to join due to unforeseen circumstance.
