Community leaders and administrative officials met on Saturday to discuss the critical and deplorable condition of national highway (NH) 702 between Changtongya and Dikhu.
The meeting witnessed participation of representatives from the Phom People’s Council (PPC), Phom Students’ Conference (PSC), Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (LTM) president, and Langpangkong Range Road Coordination Committee (LRRCC) convener, alongside the sub-divisional officer (civil) of Changtongya.
During the meeting, PPC president YB Angam Phom highlighted the severe hardships faced by the Phom community daily due to the poor road infrastructure. He pointed out that the poor road condition had significantly impacted daily life, commerce, and regional connectivity.
In response, SDO (civil) and border magistrate, ADC Tuli and Changtongya in-charge, Nukshimatong assured the community leaders of the administration’s unwavering support in addressing these pressing concerns.
He also urged the civil society organisations (CSOs) to continue their full cooperation to expedite solutions.
During the discussion, the LTM president and LRRCC convener underscored the importance of unity among all stakeholders. They called for immediate and effective measures to resolve the affected road jurisdiction falling within their purview.
The PSC general secretary reaffirmed that the student body would continue to offer constant cooperation and support to the administration and organisations, serving as a key representative for students.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all parties to conduct regular inspections of the road.
The ongoing monitoring aimed to facilitate early intervention and ensure the rapid development of infrastructure for betterment of the entire region. This was stated in a PSC press release.
