Dimapur Unit of the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) conducted an advocacy meeting for community leaders under Medziphema block at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Medziphema Town on July 22.
According to IEC Bureau Section, Office of Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, the meeting focused on raising awareness about Malaria, Dengue, and Japanese Encephalitis (JE). Peter Sangtam, Consultant (DVBD), highlighted symptoms, prevention, and the need for source reduction through cleanliness drives and dry day observance. He also encouraged residents to use mosquito nets, repellents, and protective clothing.
Dr Kavito Zhimomi, District Programme Officer, emphasized ELISA testing for accurate diagnosis of Dengue and JE. He urged leaders to promote early treatment-seeking behaviour and take the lead in organizing awareness activities and sanitation drives. The meeting was chaired by Dr Temjensunep Jamir, MO i/c CHC Medziphema. It was attended by community representatives from various wards and villages, along with Malaria Technical Supervisor (MTS) and Surveillance Worker (SW) from the block.
