A concrete embankment cum nullah to conserve soil and water was constructed in Lanyezho village by JFMC Lanyezho sponsored by Phek forest division, under the SMC (Soil & Moisture Conservation) component of FDA to avert soil erosion and for proper water management.
Around 10 Ha area of oak and fruit bearing species were planted during this season by JFMC Lanyezho under FDA regular. During the inaugural programme of the structure, DFO Phek Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted the importance of water and its effective management.
She appreciated the village community for cooperating with the department with regard to wild life & forest conservation. The village community express gratitude to Phek forest division for showing confidence to the villagers and also asserted that the community would reaffirm to firmly abide the forest resolution passed by the council. The programme was attended by DFO Phek, ACF Phek, forest staff, village council and other local functionaries.
