Longmatra Area students Union (LASU) strongly condemned the attempted murder upon its most respected and prominent leader R. Joshua Sangtam by a group of youth reportedly supporters of a rival party of 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency (A/C) on February 22nd at jail ward Kiphire.
A condemnation issued by LASU president, K. Roling expressed serious concern over the incident and termed the act as heinous and reprehensible that has no place in the peace loving society.
LASU has called upon the entire right thinking citizen to condemn the “Senseless Act” and further urged the law enforcing agencies to find and ensure strong action against those guilty at the earliest.
LACUKT: Longmatra Area Citizens Union Kiphire Town (LACUKT) has strongly condemned the attempt to murder of its most respected member and leader R. Joshua Sangtam by a group of youth reportedly by supporters of a rival party under 60 A/C Pungro-Kiphire on February 22 at Jail ward, Kiphire town.
In a condemnation note issued by LACUKT president, T. Churimong has termed the act as inhuman and barbaric. LACUKT informed that the group of youth had caught hold of Joshua and trashed him without any rhyme or reason. LACUKT stated that the perpetrator of the crime has carried out such act with their political motivation, saying that such act has no place in a civilized society. The union further urged the law enforcing agency to book the culprit at the earliest and give fittest action as per the provision of law before the situation go out of hand.
YASUD: Yimpang-Alikhum Students’ Union Dimapur (YASUD) has condemned the “assassination attempt” on BJP candidate from 40 Bhandari, Mmhonlumo Kikon, on February 17 at Yimpang village, Wokha.
Condemning the act, YASUD president, Abemo Ezung, claimed one of its members Yanpenthung Yanthan son of Khoshako Yanthan of Dimapur was grievously injured by an “unruly mob” and hospitalised.
The student body has urged all to maintain peace and tranquillity of the village and uphold the clarion call of the NBCC for clean election. YASUD has further urged the law enforcing agencies to do justice to the victims at the earliest.
