Condolence messages on demise of Noke Wangnao

Nagaland governor La Ganesan and chief minister Neiphiu Rio led the state in mourning the demise of late Noke Wangnao, MLA and advisor social welfare.


Gov: Expressing deep shock and pain at the passing of Noke Wangnao, governor said late Wangnao was an able and dynamic leader committed to the welfare and upliftment of the people. Ganesan said his demise was an irreparable loss to the people of the State, adding that his contribution as a true statesman to the people of Nagaland would be remembered for years to come.


CM: In a condolence message to Mrs. Apham Wangnao, the chief minister Neiphiu Rio said he was shocked and deeply pained by the passing away of Atei Noke Wangnao. Rio said late Wangnao was not only a colleague to him but also a dear friend, a trusted advisor, an elder brother whom he looked up to and with whom he shared a common political journey for decades.


Rio said late Wangnao was one of the senior most leaders whose wisdom, leadership and guidance was still very needed by the State, especially by the people of the eastern region. “His demise is a great loss to all of us, particularly to the Konyak community and the Eastern Nagas, and the vacuum he leaves behind will be impossible to fill,” Rio said.


Rio also said that his contributions and sacrifices to Nagaland and its citizens would be recorded in history for generations to come.


Zeliang: State deputy chief minister TR Zeliang, in a condolence message, said late Noke Wangnao Konyak, as a senior most legislator in the State, was not only his government colleague, but his guide and mentor in good and bad time. Describing late Wangnao as “a man of few words and a heart filled with the desire to help his fellow man in every way”, Zeliang said his numerous victories in the elections to the NLA was a valediction to the fact that he was favoured over many by his people.
Former CM also said that his death was a huge loss for the people of Mon District in particular and the Nagas in general. In his death, Zeliang said he has left an indelible mark with his sheer perseverance and commitment towards the welfare of his people.


Patton: Mourning the demise of veteran politician Noke Konyak, the state deputy chief minister Y. Patton said that late Konyak was the senior most and a very respected legislator in NLA, whose career in politics spanned for more than five decades. In a condolence note, Patton said Wangnao dedicated his life for the upliftment of the people of Nagaland, which would be long remembered. He said Wangnao’s demise was a big blow to his community and the state as a whole.


Tokheho: State’s lone Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi expressed deep grief at the passing of Noke Wangnao, who he said was the senior most legislature and by virtue of it a father figure and guide to many legislatures, past and present.
Even in the realms of politics, Tokheho said late Wangnao was respectfully and compassionately addressed as ‘Uncle’ irrespective of political affiliations across the State’s political spectrum.
In his passing, MP said the state has lost a person who dedicated his life for the people for more than five decades. “Irrespective of the offices he held, to dedicate ones’ life for more than fifty years for upliftment of our state and people defines the person he was,” Tokheho said.

Kaito: Minister PWD(R&B) G. Kaito Aye expressed deep sadness at the sudden demise of Noke Wangnao, who he described as “a cherished father figure, a remarkable individual and a respected statesman.”
Recalling the countless moments shared with him, Kaito said late Wangnao’s ability to bridge divides, find common ground, and to put the needs of “our constituents first has been nothing short of remarkable.”
Minister said Noke Wangnao was not only an astute leader but also a dedicated public servant who tirelessly worked for the welfare of our state. “His commitment to serving the people has set an inspiring example for all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him,” Kaito said, adding his passing has left a void that can never be filled.

Kenye: Minister power and parliamentary affairs K.G. Kenye expressed grief and pain at the demise Noke Wangnao.
In a condolence message, Kenye said late Wangnao, throughout his illustrious political career, dedicated most of his life serving his constituents and the people of the State in various capacities as MLA, Minister and Advisor. In his passing, Kenye said the state has lost a towering leader and a great statesmanship.

ENLU: Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) expressed deep pain and sorrow at the sudden demise of senior leader Noke Wangnao.
In a condolence note, ENLU president and health minister P Paiwang Konyak described late Noke as a great leader and a trusted advisor, who inspired selfless love and sacrifice for his people in a humble and modest way. “Late Noke was a man of strict principles, a guide and motivator to many of us especially the Konyak legislators in particular and Eastern Legislators in general,” ENLU said.
The union said that late Noke was a visionary leader who gave shape to several organizations including the ENPO. “No amount of words can describe his great personality who stood for truth alone,” ENLU stated.

CL John: Minister Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Village Guards, CL John expressed deep shock at the demise of late Noke Wangnao, who he said was considered as a staunch regionalist.
During his short span of life, CL John said late Wangnao was proved, undoubtedly one of the sincere, hardworking and bona fide citizen as well as one of a competent public leader in his own capacity with integrity, straightforward, accountable, and vast wisdom.
Minister said it would be very difficult to fill the vacuum caused by his death and his service to Konyak Community in particular and to Nagas in general. John said late Wangnao’s untiring voluntary services to society and individual would be heartily remembered by one and all.

Konyak legislators: Konyak legislators expressed profound sadness and sorrow at the sudden demise of their senior leader, MLA and advisor Noke Wangnao.
In a condolence message, health minister P. Paiwang Konyak said that Konyak legislators in particular have lost a true friend, a mentor and a truly irreplaceable great leader, revered by everyone. “His qualities of tolerance, forbearance, forgiveness, decency and respect for others was a model for us all,” Konyak legislators said.
In his demise, Konyak legislators said they have lost a noble and an industrious leader and his absence will be truly missed.

Imchen: Advisor IPR and soil & water conservation, Imkong L Imchen expressed shock at the demise of Noke Wangnao, who he described as the “tallest leader of the Regional Politics” in Nagaland.
In a condolence message, Imchen said late Wangnao, a man of integrity in Naga Politics, always loved to speak out the truth no matter what.
He said it was a great loss to the 14th House of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, to the people of Nagaland, and particularly to the people of Konyak and members of the bereaved family.

Nyamnyei: A. Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA 48 Moka A/C and NPP Nagaland state president, expressed grief at the sudden demise of veteran politician late Noke Wangnao.
In a condolence note, Nyamnyei Konyak said late Wangnao would be remembered as a tall leader who stood by the masses. “His unwavering commitment and visionary leadership left an indelible mark on all sphere of progress and development in Mon district,” Nyamnyei said, adding that his death has left a vacuum especially in the present political scenario of the Nagas in general and the Konyak community in particular.

NDPP: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) through its president Chingwang Konyak expressed shock and deep sadness at the demise of MLA & Advisor, Noke Wangnao.
A staunch regionalist, NDPP said late Noke never wavered in his commitment to the regional party. During his long political career, NDPP said he ever joined a national party but remained a regionalist till he breathed his last.
While holding various offices during his career, NDPP said he always ensured discharging the responsibilities bestowed on him with sincerity and honesty.
In his demise, not just the NDPP, but the State as a whole has lost an octogenarian whose vault of wisdom and experience will not be easily replaced and his presence will truly be missed, the party stated.

NPCC: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) through its president S. Supongmeren Jamir expressed grief at the demise of late Noke Wangnao, who it described was one of the tallest leaders from Nagaland. “Indeed a great loss for Tapi constituency and the Nagas in general,” NPCC said.

ENNWU: Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU) through its ENNWU convener Moba Chang expressed shock and sadness at demise of late Noke Wangnao Konyak, who was one of the senior most politicians in Nagaland.
ENNWU said his sudden demise was a great loss to the Nagas in general and Eastern Nagas in particular. The union stated that the void left behind by his untimely death would be hard to fill in the days to come.

ENSF: Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) through its vice president and assistant general secretary Molo Phom expressed shock at the sudden demise of late Noke Wangnao Konyak.
ENSF stated that late Noke who lived to the fullest with distinctive enigma left behind “a legacy of longevity in Eastern Naga socio-political epoch”.
Describing late leader as “a towering political patriarch amongst our Eastern Political influential and a distinct acumen”, ENSF prayed that his legacy of being the “Grand Oldman of Naga Politics” continue to “bless our Eastern People and the Nagas as a whole.”

KUM: Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) through its president P.M. Aman and general secretary K Akham Honwang expressed deep sadness at the demise of M. Noke Wangnao.
KUM on behalf of Konyaks of Myanmar said late Wangnao’s demise was a huge loss for the Konyak community as well as Naga people in general, adding the vacuum left would be difficult to fill. “Although we could not come physically for tribute due to communication however we are deeply saddened,” KUM stated.

ENWO: Expressing deep pain at the demise of Noke Wangnao, the Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) said late Wangnao, a great statesman and a dynamic leader, gave his unwavering and selfless service to the Naga society and the Eastern people in particular throughout his social and political career. ENWO said his immense contributions in bringing many social changes, transformation and upliftment of the society would forever be remembered. “His passing away is an irreplaceable loss not only to the family and community in particular but to the State in general,” ENWO stated.

NGBF: Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) has expressed shock at the demise of Noke Wangnao, who it described as a man of simplicity and honest personality.
NGBF stated that his efficiently and dedications towards his people was reflected by elected him for 10 times as MLA. In his demise, NGBF said Naga people have lost a senior and most experience leader.

KTC: Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) through its president M.Thangou and general secretary NSM Pakhiu deeply mourned the demise of Noke Wangnao.
Describing late Wangnao as a tall leader among the Nagas, KTC said he served the people in different capacities since 1974, adding his demise has been a great loss to the Eastern Nagas and the people of Nagaland in general.

ENPUK: Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Kohima (ENPUK) through its president N Toshi Chang and general secretary Shahsha L Phom expressed grief at the sudden demise of Noke Wangnao, who it said would always be remembered for his legacy of principle and stability in his leadership that he had lived. “There are no accurate words to describe that you left for Heavenly home so suddenly, but, you were a mighty mountain, high above the plains, treasured with wisdom which guided the people of Eastern Nagaland during its trying time,” ENPUK stated.

YUD: Yimkhiung Union Dimapur (YUD) through its president M. Biremong Yimkhiung and general secretary R. Aaron Yimkhiung expressed deep sadness at the demise of senior and veteran leader late Noke Wangnao, who it said dedicated his whole life for the service and upliftment of downtrodden people. “His service and contributions for the welfare of Naga society will not be forgotten but forever be an inspiration to the people,” YUD stated.

NLCF: Nagaland Legislators Christian Fellowship (NLCF) expressed shock and pain at the demise its member Noke Wangnao, who it described as “a bold and God-fearing leader”.
In a condolence message, state chaplain Rev. T. W. Yamyap Konyak said that in his death the Fellowship and the State have lost a faithful leader. NLCF prayed that the departed soul find peace and rest with the Lord Jesus Christ.

JDU state unit: Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland state unit expressed grief at the demise of Noke Wangnao. JD(U) state unit through its media and publicity cell stated that late Wangnao contributed much to the people of Nagaland as a whole, adding that the state would have a vacuum to replace him.

NDPP Mkg: NDPP Mokokchung region through its president Mangyangnungba and general secretary Repameren has mourned the demise of late Noke Wangnao, who it said was an epitome of regionalism, a stalwart of regional party in the North East region.
In his passing away, NDPP Mokokchung region said Nagas have lost a veteran statesman and a grassroots leader. It said the vacuum caused by his death could not be filled.

Kronu: Former minister Neiba Kronu expressed sadness at the demise of late Noke Wangnao, who he said was a dedicated and senior most leader and always worked for the welfare of the society fervently. In his demise, Kronu said the State has lost a good leader.
