Naga Council Dimapur (NCD); advisor of Elections and Tribal Affairs, H. Tovihoto Ayemi; advisor of Labour, Skill Development and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer; GB Union Dimapur (Sadar); Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD) and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) have expressed grief over the passing of Holuto Aye, vice president (Admin), Naga Council Dimapur, who passed away on June 19 in Guwahati.
NCD: NCD has offered condolences to the wife and family of its vice-president (Admn) Holuto Aye who passed away at GNRC Hospital, Guwahati around 2 am on Thursday.
In a message, NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon hoped they find strength in the shared memories and support each other during this difficult time.
He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Sumi community of Dimapur and Sumi Council Dimapur in particular for the profound loss they had suffered, stating that his thoughts and prayers were with them too.
Kikon recalled that during his tenure as vice-president (admin) since August 7, 2021, and previously as councillor from 2015 to 2020, Aye demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication. He said Aye’s contributions, particularly as convener of the platinum jubilee celebrations, were truly remarkable.
He said the successful celebration of the platinum jubilee under Aye’s leadership stood as a testament to his dedication and organisational capabilities. According to him, the significant milestone was not only a grand celebration in itself but also served a deeper purpose of bringing to light the existence and importance of NCD to many who were previously unaware of the pivotal role council played in representing and uniting Naga communities and, more importantly, creating congenial relationship among the tribal and non-tribal communities for peaceful co-existence in Dimapur.
The NCD president remembered Aye as a soft-spoken and humble individual who would be deeply missed as a friend, colleague, and a leader, while expressing gratitude for his service and leadership. He said the passing away of the vice-president was a profound loss not only for the council but also for the society at large. He hoped that his memory would continue to inspire and guide all.
“After the passing away of our former president in 2020, we thought we’d faced our darkest hour. Yet, today brings another wave of sorrow with the loss of our vice-president,” he stated, adding that it was a heartbreaking reminder of life’s uncertainties and the limitations as humans.
He thanked all friends, colleagues, and neighbours for their presence and support, wishing that Aye’s soul rest in peace.
Moatoshi Longkumer: Moatoshi said he was deeply saddened by the loss, describing Holuto as a humble and determined person who always gave his best, especially in serving the community. Moatoshi shared that their friendship dated back to college days and remained strong through the years.
He said Holuto served various organisations with integrity and dedication, and that those who knew him would always remember his sincerity and work ethic.
Tovihoto Ayemi: Tovihoto also expressed sorrow and said Holuto was a devoted leader who served with compassion and commitment. From his early days as a student leader, Holuto had worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people. His loss, Tovihoto said, would be felt not only by the Sumi community but by the entire Naga society.
GB Union Dimapur: GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) described Holuto as a soft-spoken leader who worked with vision and determination for the welfare of all. It said his death was a loss to both Dimapur and the Naga community.
They further offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and peace during this time of sorrow.
NBCD: NBCD has also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of its advisor and vice President (Admin) of Naga Council Dimapur, Holuto Aye.
In a condolence message, NBCD described late Holuto as a man of vision, wisdom, and integrity, who dedicated his life to the service of society. He played a key role in promoting the welfare of the people and served the community in various leadership capacities.
His past roles in the council include serving as treasurer (2010–2012), chairman of Sumi Khel, Notun Bosti (2010–2020), convenor of the Planning Committee for the Council’s 50th Golden Jubilee in 2019, and as advisor from 2021 till his demise.
NBCD said the vacuum created by his passing will be difficult to fill, and his legacy will be remembered by all. The council conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them comfort and strength. It also prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
DNSU: In a condolence message, DNSU described Holuto as a dedicated and humble leader who worked tirelessly for the welfare and unity of the people. It said his leadership
DNSU conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Naga Council Dimapur, and all those affected by his passing.
It prayed for strength and comfort to the family and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
TUD: Tangkhul Union Dimapur (TUD) has expressed sadness over the demise of Holuto Aye, vice president (administration) of the NCD.
In a condolence message, TUD said late Holuto dedicated his life to social service and held key roles in various civil organisations. It said his passing has left a huge void in the NCD and the wider community.
