Deputy commissioner of Longleng, M. Shayung Phom inaugurated the conference hall-cum-commercial building of VCC & VDB Association as special guest on Saturday at Longleng.
M. Shayung Phom at the inaugural expressed happiness over the timely completion of the building and said it was because of the cooperation among the members and judicious use of the fund. He said, having such kind of multi building in a district would serve the people a long way and lighten their burden.
DC also called upon the members to continue to maintain unity and integrity for all round development. He was optimistic that the newly constructed hall would bring people from all corners closer and strengthen unity and integrity. He therefore urged the Association to inculcate the culture of unity and cooperation among the members in order to create more success stories.
DC also encouraged the Village Council chairmen and VDB secretaries to use the hall as a place for justice and equality, accessible to both the genders so that goodwill prevail in society.
Adding that state government has conferred the villages with the powers like legislative, executive and judicial through the Nagaland Village Council Act.1979, he urged the village authorities to use their powers wisely.
DC also unveiled the monolith of the association, where dedicatory prayer was offered by Mongoi Phom associate pastor, Longleng Town Baptist Church.
Others who delivered short speeches included Tenau Phom, general secretary Phom Peoples Council (PPC) and Samuel Phom BDO Longleng.
Earlier, programme was chaired by president and vice president of the Association. A brief history on building construction was delivered by L. Langsho Phom, finance secretary while thanks giving prayer was led by P. Pangpent Phom, pastor Orangkong Baptist Church.
All the council chairmen and VDB secretaries under Longleng district, Phom Peoples Council (PPC) Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) Phomla Hoichem, All Wards Chairmen of Longleng town, staff from DC office, officers & staffs from DRDA & block office Longleng and invitees attended the programme.
