Conference on development and governance in North-East begins at FAC

The inaugural session of the two-day National Conference on Reimagining Development and Governance in North-East India (ReD&GoNE 2026) under the theme “Pathways for Inclusive and Sustainable Futures” was held on April 15 at Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung.
The conference is jointly organized by the Departments of Economics, Political Science and Sociology, FAC, and sponsored by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college.
Prof. Lanu Aier, retired professor, Department of Sociology, NEHU, delivered the keynote address on the conference theme, while the welcome address was given by Dr. I. Wati Imchen, principal of FAC and patron of ReD&GoNE 2026. Resource speakers for the technical session included Amba Jamir, Senior Policy Analyst and Development Strategist, Guwahati, who spoke on “From Frontier to Pivot: Reimagining Development and Governance in Peripheral Landscapes”; Prof. T.T. Haokip, Department of Political Science, NEHU, who presented on “Federalism and the Crisis of Governance in Northeast India: The Case of Manipur and Meghalaya”; and Dr. Limakumba Walling, Assistant Professor, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, who spoke on “Overcoming the Permanent Transition Trap: Reimagining Development in Nagaland.” Parallel paper presentation sessions were also conducted, featuring scholarly contributions on diverse topics related to development and governance in the region.
