The Congress on Monday announced new appointments to the Advisory Council, Special Invitees, and Tribal Advisory Council for the North Eastern states under the All India Adivasi Congress (AIAC), aimed at strengthening the party’s tribal outreach.
AIAC chairman and MLA Dr. Vikrant Bhuria said the appointments were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. He said the move reflected the party’s commitment to tribal representation and empowerment.
Besides the Adivasi Congress Advisory Council which includes senior leaders from across India, the Tribal Advisory Council for the Northeast includes Kumar Waii, Nabam Tuki, Bharat Ch. Narah, G. Gaikhangam, Saleng A. Sangma, Lal Thanhawla, and from Nagaland—S. Supongmeren Jamir, K.L. Chishi, K. Therie, C. Apok Jamir, S.I. Jamir, and Rananthung Yanthan. Party sources said the restructured councils aim to boost coordination among tribal leaders and strengthen policy advocacy for tribal welfare and rights.
