Consultation on draft Nagaland land use policy

Zonal consultation on draft Nagaland use policy for Dimapur and Peren district was held on July 19 at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Dimapur with IELO consultant Delhi, Shilpa Chohan and IELO head consultant, Shawahiq Sidbique as the resource persons.
Resource person, Shilpa while highlighting on draft land use policy stated that the state needs vision and strategy on utilization of land and its utilization. She also elaborated on the proposed policy where the policy outlines 24 initiatives on land use and management.
While chairing the programme, ADC Dimapur, Sara S Jamir, said Nagaland lack land use planning and that the state need to come with such policy. She suggested involvement of women in land use.
Sara spoke on the need to check if there was any fallow management, climate change mitigation and preparedness with land use planning and also deliberated on reserving community reserve forest above 60 degree slope. 
In her closing remarks, Sara asked all departments to coordinate and to avoid overlapping or duplication. She requested all the concern officers to give necessary inputs for land policy. 
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by DSCO Dimapur, Hovuto Zhimomi followed by self introduction, presentation on range level consultation was delivered by ATMA, Dimapur and Peren while vote of thanks was proposed by DSCO Peren Hekishe, DSCO Peren.
The programme was attended by officials from Agri –Allied department, ATMA, KVK, SASRD Nagaland University and also the farmers from Dimapur and Peren district .
