Consultative meet on child labour held in Niuland

DIMAPUR: A consultative meeting on preventing child labour and child exploitation in the district was held on July 27 at the DC’s office, Niuland.
According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Niuland, T. L. Kiusumong Tikhir, while addressing the gathering, said the meeting was not merely symbolic but should lead to impactful and fruitful activities.
He stressed that the future rests on children and that society’s approach towards them must be responsible and sensitive.
The meeting specifically deliberated on ways to address child labour in brick factories and highway hotels.
The DC urged the District Child Protection Officer and the Labour Department to coordinate and organise awareness programmes involving all stakeholders. The date for the programme has been fixed for August 4, 2026.
