Consultative meeting in Mokokchung on Census

DIMAPUR: A crucial consultative meeting was held on June 22 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung, to boost awareness and ensure active stakeholder participation in the ongoing Census operation and the newly launched self enumeration phase.
According to DIPR report, chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, underscored the importance of the Census as the foundational database for national planning, policy formulation, resource allocation and implementation.
He highlighted that this marks India’s first ever fully digital Census, aimed at empowering citizens and ensuring a smooth workflow for field enumerators. Verma urged officials to focus on accuracy and appealed to stakeholders to vigorously promote self enumeration while extending full support to the exercise.
Providing a progress report, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling, detailed the training programmes completed for master trainers, field trainers, supervisors and enumerators. He announced that the House Listing phase will be conducted from July 1 to 31, 2026, featuring 33 specific questions, while the second phase of population enumeration will commence in February 2027. For Mokokchung district, deployment includes 13 charge officers, 83 supervisors (10 in reserve) and 447 enumerators.
Walling also highlighted the ongoing self enumeration period from June 16 to 30, noting that the digital process takes less than five minutes to complete. He urged leaders to spread awareness so that no household is left out.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, cautioned officials against unauthorized disclosure of personal information, reminding that under the Census of India Act 1948, all individual level data remains strictly confidential and legally protected.
Citizens wishing to self-enumerate can log in directly to the official portal at se.census.gov.in. The questionnaire can also be downloaded in advance at https://se.census.gov.in/assets/SE_Question.pdf.
