As part of its week-long observance of “World Consumer Rights Day” under 2024 theme, “Fair and responsible AI for Consumers”, Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has appealed to all consumers/citizens to remain vigilant at all times while buying goods and availing services.
In a press release, NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi, asked all consumers to approach its Helpline at 1800 – 345 – 3701 for any information, advice or guidance for his/her day-to-day consumer problems.
NVCO reminded that it has been requesting the state government for a “slaughterhouse” and laboratory food testing vans. It has encouraged consumers/citizens to take their food samples suspected to be artificial or inferior or adulterated to State Public Health Laboratory Kohima for testing.
NVCO also appealed to the state government and competent authorities to check multiple taxation on the business community, especially the commercial hub of the state, Dimapur. It appealed to the state government, particularly the concerned department and the Food Commission, to check and avoid “mal practices” in the distribution of food items in the state. Further, NVCO said the organisation, in collaboration with Kohima Law College, would observe “World Consumer Rights Day” on March 15.
