Consumers urged to verify food labels before purchase

DIMAPUR

Food Safety Authority, Kohima Zone, has issued a notice to RO Water Plant proprietors in Kohima town, urging them to comply with labeling requirements under their FSSAI license.
Designated Officer (Food Safety) Kezhangulie Yimchunger emphasized that food business operators must ensure all food items display proper label information, including a valid FSSAI License or Registration Certificate number. Sellers will be held accountable if products lack traceable details.
Consumers have been advised to check food labels carefully, verifying key details such as the manufacturer’s address, production and best-before dates, batch number, and licensing information. For any food safety queries or complaints, individuals can contact the Food Safety Section at the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Kohima, or email foodsafetykma@gmail.com.
