DIMAPUR: A coordination meeting of the Media Cell for Kohima district, in connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Photo Electoral Roll 2026, was held on August 19 at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
Chairing the meeting, chairman of the Media Cell and Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, briefed members on the ongoing SIR exercise and apprised them of the roles and responsibilities of officials involved in the revision process, a DIPR report stated.
The members discussed strategies for effective public awareness and information dissemination, including preparation and release of press notes, media coordination and monitoring, publicity initiatives, and management of official social media platforms.
Deliberations also focused on measures to counter fake news, misinformation and misleading content related to the SIR process. Members emphasised the need for timely dissemination of verified and authentic information to ensure the public remains well informed about the objectives, procedures and timelines of the electoral revision.
Further, the meeting discussed strengthening awareness and publicity through various communication platforms, including greater outreach via the District Icon and other appropriate media channels.
