DIMAPUR: A Nagaland Police official was arrested after allegedly threatening a courier delivery executive with a pistol during a dispute over a cash-on-delivery (COD) parcel at Naga United village, Chümoukedima, on Friday.
The accused, identified as Blesto Zhimo was arrested by Diphupar Police following a complaint lodged by the delivery executive, Khrovota.
Khrovota, who works with Delhivery, alleged that the incident occurred at around 1:10 p.m. when he delivered a COD parcel valued at Rs. 600 to the officer.
According to the complainant, the officer opened the parcel before making payment and later refused to pay, claiming the contents were different from what was ordered. Khrovota said he informed the customer that company policy required payment before opening COD parcels and that any dispute regarding the product had to be addressed through the company’s return or refund procedure.
He alleged that the officer became agitated during the exchange and threatened him by brandishing a pistol. The situation was reportedly brought under control after the officer’s driver intervened.
Following the incident, Khrovota informed his company and later filed a complaint at Diphupar Police Station.
The complainant also claimed that attempts had been made to persuade him to settle the matter, but asserted that he would pursue the case.
Meanwhile, Western Chakhesang Youth Front (WCYF) condemned the alleged act, stating that there was no place for such intimidation or harassment in society. WCYF president Wekupe Therie said the law should be allowed to take its course.
