Core Committee has issued a press release wherein they said that the passing of the bill revoking the November 24, 2016 Resolution of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly pertaining to the conduct of elections to Urban Local Bodies was “appreciable for heeding the wish of the people.”
The press release issued by the Core Committee “for and on behalf of all Tribal Hohos/Bodies of Nagaland” was signed by Angami Public Organisation president Dr. Vilhusa Seleyi and Chakhesang Public Organisation president Kekhwengulo Lea.
It said that the Core Committee of the Apex Tribal Hohos/Bodies of Nagaland, as the voice of the people, had been persistently persuading the government to revoke the November 24, 2016 resolution.
It further said that they had been insisting that all such contentious issues be put to rest until such time as the Nagaland Municipal Act is thoroughly scrutinized to the advantage of the people – to which every democratically elected Government was responsible.
The press release added that the last memorandum was submitted to the chief minister on Wednesday December 13, 2017 following the decision of Joint Tribal Hohos/Bodies meeting held on Tuesday December 5, 2017 at Kisama.
It said that the Core Committee hoped that the government’s endeavour by revoking the resolution would be able to restore the trust deficit in the Naga Society and create an atmosphere to provide “excellent governance in the interest of the people.”
