CoRRP to hold 1-day sit in today

DIMAPUR, JUL 8 (NPN)

Responding to a request made by the State government on Tuesday evening, the 5-Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has decided to scale down its proposed indefinite sit-in protest to a one-day protest.
CoRRP convenor Er. Tesinlo Semy and member secretary G.K. Zhimomi, informed that the sit-in protest scheduled at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat will be held as planned on July 9. However, it was clarified that the demonstration will be limited to a single day, respecting the state government’s appeal.
The signatories maintained they expected the state government to fulfill the assurance of initiating dialogue with the CoRRP after the return of the chief minister to the state within this week. CoRRP also warned that failure to do so would lead to intensified agitation.
