Court sentences youth to 10 years RI for culpable homicide

Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mokokchung, Victo Sema, NJS, on August 28, sentenced one Imkongtemjen to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
According to Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP), Mokokchung, M. Temjenwathy Imsong, the accused was convicted under Sections 325, 352, and 304 Part II of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for offences including voluntarily causing grievous hurt, assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The court awarded seven years RI and imposed a fine of Rs. 2000 under Section 325 IPC. Additionally, the accused was sentenced to three months RI under Section 352 IPC and 10 years RI under Section 304 Part II IPC. In default of payment of the fine, the convict will undergo three months of simple imprisonment (SI). The APP informed that all sentences will run concurrently.
