Court stays NH 155 road works

Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, has stayed the road construction work starting from NH 155 (NH 202) Mokokchung junction via Longsa–Suruhuto-Aghunato for violating the terms and conditions of the work order.
The Court has issued the stay order following Public Interest Litigation filed by Zhekuto village under Suruhuto sub-division in Zunheboto district in the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, represented by its counsel, Zhevi Swu.
The PIL was filed against the State as well as against M/S Panesar & Sons for non-implementation of the work order as per the DPR, in relation to the road improvement work.
Counsel for Zhekuto village, Zhevi Swu, claimed that the road was diverted from Sapotimi to Tichipami instead of Sapotimi to Zhekuto without any legal sanction and in contravention to the work order.
