The state government departments and district administrations have issued various advisories for the public and government employees in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.
DC Kohima on ramping up of Covid testing: DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie has directed the district administrative officers under Kohima district to disseminate the information on any resistance/refusal to test by known contacts of Covid cases to be deemed as violation under Nagaland Epidemic Disease (COVID-19) Regulations 2020 and booked under IPC Section 188.
DC and chairman DTF Kohima said that the testing for Covid has been on a substantial decrease in the past few weeks in Kohima district owing to resistance of people to come forward, which he said could be due to fear of stigmatisation or general resistance to get diagnosed.
He stated that early testing/detection and isolation was one of the best tool to break the chain of infection and early testing and detection would be highly beneficial in reducing the mortality due to Covid.
Moreover, the total lockdown which the state government has imposed will bear full dividends only if we supplement it with increased testing, he informed.
Public encouraged to get vaccinated: To spread a positive message to the general public about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination and to prevent the spread of false rumours about the vaccine, public leaders and church leaders took vaccination shots at a special camp organised at the DC’s office, Noklak on Wednesday.
According to DIPR report, the event was organised to send a message that vaccination was safe and the only preventive option available till now.
Church leaders categorically made it clear that there were no religious sanctions on Covid vaccination and dispelled rumours that there were no religious issues of any sort associated with the vaccine.
The church leaders further encouraged the believers to come forward and avail the facility at the earliest for safety of all.
Further, the health department representatives informed that there was no restriction on people with Scrub Typhus or Typhoid from taking vaccination.
AYUSH 64 tablets distributed to Covid patients: As per instructions from the ministry of AYUSH, Regional Ayurveda Research Centre (RARC) Dimapur in collaboration with Sewa Bharati volunteers started the distribution of AYUSH 64 tablets to asymptomatic, mild and moderate COVID-19 patients in home isolation as add-on therapy.
A press release from the research officer (Ay), in-charge informed that out of the 80,000 tablets stock from CCRAS, New Delhi, 10,200 tablets were distributed till date, from centre as well as through Sewa Bharati volunteers to the patients in Kohima through government officials.
In this regard, the centre has requested the general public to avail the facility through a caretaker or relative of COVID-19 positive patients by submitting a positive RT-PCR/rapid antigen test/HRCT report and Aadhar card copy/any relevant identity proof of the patient via WhatsApp or at the distribution counter of RARC, 1st floor, CMO building, district hospital colony, Dimapur. ADC Kohima informs administrative officers: ADC Kohima, Bhavani Sri has informed all area administrative officers under Kohima district to strictly follow the revised discharged policy for COVID-19 confirmed cases and the guidelines for home isolation mild/asymptomatic Covid cases in Kohima issued by the health & family welfare department.
MCD informs on funeral volunteering service: Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has formed a voluntary group from members of the Muslim community as the “Alvida (funeral) volunteers” in order to assist the needy who require help for burial or cremation of a deceased person who has died due to Covid.
In a press release, its working president Ahidur Rahman has informed that the service would be extended to all the communities in order to ensure a respectful funeral.

Covid vaccination drive in Dimapur: COVID-19 vaccination drive for 44 years and above was conducted at Government High School Sarbura on June 1.
A press release by Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) Merali unit president Wati Jamir and secretary Anik Walling stated that the vaccination drive was initiated by Kashiram Village Council and carried out by personnel of Aoyimkum village primary health centre.
Covid vaccination drive in Dimapur: District surveillance team (DST) Tuensang conducted random sample testing for COVID-19 in various localities around Tuensang town from May 30 to June 1.
A press release from DMO (NHM) Tuensang, Apheang stated that the samples were collected from different locations including NST sector, Sipong sector, sector, NAP, Nyaklangbu sector, DC office etc. More than 300 samples were collected in three days, the DMO informed.
WRCU urges its citizens: The Wozhuro Range Council Union (WRCU) held a joint meeting with Wozhuro Range Students Union (WRSU) and various organisations/union/committees to tackle and contain the spread of COVID-19 at its area on May 30 at Wozhuro community hall.
In a press release, WRCU chairman Yanbemo Tungu and general secretary Nchumthung appealed to the public to avoid travelling, visit crowded places and unnecessary movements and strictly follow the protocols and guidelines.
It urged upon its citizens to adhere and cooperate with the directives issued by range covid committee. While taking concern over the reports of unnecessary movements, the union informed all neighbouring villages that all merry-making activities including fishing, hunting would not be entertained and would not be tolerated.
Further, the union appreciated the Samaritan work of state deputy chief minister, Y. Patton for providing PPE kits and financial assistance to the PHC Wozhuro. The union also lauded the staff of PHC Wozhuro for tirelessly rendering their service for safety of the public.
ADC Pfutsero reminds on lockdown rules
With the extension of total lockdown till June 11, ADC Pfutsero in an order has informed that all existing guidelines of the lockdown issued by the state government would remain operative during the period.
ADC has further informed that any person/group of persons acting in violation of this order would be deemed to have committed an offence are punishable under IPC Section 188 and under relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
