COVID-19 pandemic: Meetings, information and activities

With Nagaland continuing to reel under the shadow of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the district administrations of various districts are conducting meetings and issuing advisories in an effort to contain the virus and prevent community spread.

Wokha: District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting & DTF for COVID-19 meeting was held at DC’s conference hall, Wokha on Tuesday.

According to DIPR report, deputy chief minister, Y. Patton, advisor for IT & communication, science & technology, NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor for horticulture & border affairs, Mhathung Yanthan and Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA attended the meeting.

The new chairman of Wokha DPDB, Mmhonlumo Kikon said that the positivity rate in the state had gone down from 34% to 21 % after the lockdown and added that the state had targeted to bring down to 10% to lift the lockdown.

In reply to the memorandum submitted by the Lotha Hoho, Kikon requested the medical department (CMO & M/S) to work out and submit details of requirements of the district hospital at the earliest so that the issues could be addressed to the government for consideration.

He further congratulated the Wokha DTF for working tirelessly for the well being of the people of the district. With regard to the upgrade of district hospital, PHC & CHC the chairman requested the DC, CMO & M/S to work out modalities and submit the same for implementation.

Speaking during the meeting, Mhathung Yanthan emphasised on proper treatment and feedings of COVID patients admitted at CCC and lauded the efforts put in by the health care workers.

Dr. Chumben Murry said that the district needs to vaccinate at least 40% of the population before the third wave. He was of the opinion that the testing rate in the district was very low and urged the medical department to scale up the testing activity in the district.

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton also held a meeting on COVID-19 with frontline workers and Bhandari BTF at CHC Bhandari on  Tuesday.

Patton stated that though Bhandari sub-division was placed at a very challenging area being a state border, it was found to be one of the most efficient blocks in managing and containing the pandemic and appreciated the frontline workers.

Tuensang: Tuensang DTF for COVID-19 held a meeting at CBLT conference hall on Tuesday to discuss the activation of CCC Tuensang.

The meeting was attended by Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen, Eleutheros Christian society, representatives of tribal Hohos, all ward union, TCC&I, pastors union, CMO, MS and police. 

During the meeting, Rev. Achu presented a report on preparations of government polytechnic Sedem for CCC.

The house constituted the management team to run the CCC at government polytechnic Sedem for Tuensang. It also decided to manage to keep all the asymptomatic COVID positive patients of the district to contain the local transmission in the district.

The house discussed funds to run the CCC and it was agreed to give responsibility to the management team to appeal to all the stakeholders for financial support. 

It considered the management team to write to the high power committee, Nagaland through deputy commissioner Tuensang for aid and funds to run the CCC Tuensang.

Dimapur: Dimapur Area Ao Baptist Churches and Ao Civil Societies provided lunch to the frontline workers (medical fraternity) in all Covid dedicated hospitals and centers in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Medziphema.

On May 29, the committee provided lunch and prayers at CIHSR followed by lunch and prayers at the following on June 1 – Dimapur district hospital, CMO, Eden Hospital, Faith Hospital, Zion Hospital, Olive Hospital, Nikos Hospital, CCC Chümoukedima, CCC Medziphema.

In a press release, its convenor Supu Jamir and secretary Imti Jamir said that they looked forward to more contribution in the fight against the pandemic and assured the frontline workers that they would continue to provide support and assistance in the coming days.

Further, it extended its appreciation to the Ao Baptist Churches of Diphupar, Aoyimti, Padum Pukhuri, Aoyimkum, East Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Nukmen (Darogapathar) who had volunteered to prepare the lunch following proper SOPs.
