COVID-19 sensitisation trainings, meetings across Nagaland

Awareness and sensitisation trainings on COVID-19 were held in various districts for frontline workers (FLWs) of the state.

Zunheboto: Awareness and sensitisation workshop on COVID-19 vaccination for frontline workers of Zunheboto district for District Administration, DEF and 14th IR was conducted on February 8 at their respective offices.

A press release by district media officer stated that during the workshop, chief medical officer, Dr. K. Akaho Sema appealed to all the participants to come forward and get vaccinated and not to miss the opportunity.

He requested all concerned department officials to encourage their staffs to get vaccinated and not to believe in the misconceptions about the vaccine on social media.

He also gave a detailed explanation on Covishield vaccine and how the doses were administered. 

DPO (RCH/UIP), Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir gave a brief introduction on coronavirus, symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention and spoke on the vaccine approved in India.

She also laid emphasis on achieving herd immunity and requested all frontline workers to get registered in the Cowin portal if they had not registered.

DPO also gave a detailed report on the number of healthcare workers in Nagaland who have been vaccinated for the first dose so far, and the number of healthcare workers vaccinated in Zunheboto as well. 

Earlier, SDO Zunheboto, Renbon and SDPO Zunheboto, Disani Newmai delivered welcome address. The workshop was followed by interaction and discussion with the resource person and participants.

Wokha: 3-day COVID-19 sensitisation training for NGOs, NCOs, Home Guards, State Disaster Response Force and Civil Defence personnel commencedat District Commandant Home Guards office Wokha on February 6. Delivering the keynote address,district commandant, HG, CD and SRDF Wokha, Vikiho K Sema stated that sensitising the frontline workers would allow them to understand the importance of taking the vaccine as we continue to fight against the virus.

Resource persons were zonal leprosy officer Wokha,Dr. Mhonchan Kithanand epidemiologist, Dr. Khesheli Awomi.

Dr. Mhonchan gave a brief introduction on the origin of coronavirus and the new deadly variant of the virus from UK and South Africa and lauded the efforts of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SRDF personnel in carrying out their duties during the pandemic.

Dr. Khesheli took sessions on standard operating procedure for COVID-19 and the tests done for suspected cases in the district.

Meanwhile, resource persons answered various queries raised by frontline workers on vaccination.

It may be noted that the ongoing training is in collaboration between District Commandant, Home Guards Office and Medical Department.

Tuensang: Tuensang District Task Force (TDTF) for COVID-19 vaccine held a meeting at DC’s conference hall Tuensang on February 6. The meeting was chaired by DC & chairman TDTF, Kumar Ramnikant. 

The district immunization officer highlighted that 335 health care workers were vaccinated in 10 sessions and another nine more session were left for health care workers of first phase.

She said that a total of 5052 front line workers were registered for the second phase vaccination processes and for the first round of second phase, employees of DC office, Police and Urban departments were earmarked.

She also requested the departments to submit the beneficiary list of those who were already registered for the approval for the session where 100 beneficiaries would be immunised per session. 

The members also discussed on loopholes in the vaccination processes, while DC & Chairman stressed on awareness campaigns in local platforms.

Mon: Mon launched an awareness drive with an aim to instil confidence in healthcare workers and frontline workers on COVID-19 vaccine. 

According to a press release, vaccinated health workers spoke about their health after receiving the shots to private clinic, police headquarters, administration, health care centres including ASHAs and AWWs in and around the district. 

The drive shed light on understanding the vaccine first, its adverse effect following immunisation (AEFI), CAB, myths and misconception, and the strategy sought to build trust and enable greater confidence in COVID-19 vaccine amongst people by employing transparency in communication while also managing any misinformation and rumours around it. 

Active resource persons for the awareness camp were DC, DIO (UIP&RCH,) medical officers of the blocks, vaccinated HWs, BPMs and media officer. 

The second phase of the vaccination drive for frontline workers will begin from February 8.

2nd phase vaccination for FLWs underway

DIMAPUR: The second phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive started on February 8 in various districts.
Wokha: Vaccination of COVID-19 for frontline workers (FLWs) of Wokha began with three session sites identified at SP office, DC’s office and Home Guards and Civil Defense office for vaccination.
According to DIPR report, DC & chairman, District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha was first to be administered with the vaccine. DC requested encouraged frontline workers to take the vaccine as it was safe and had no side effects so far. “I took the COVID-19 vaccine because I trust in its efficacy”, he said.
District immunization officer, Wokha, Dr. Khelito Zhimomi informed frontline workers stationed at different blocks wanting to avail the vaccine to contact the concerned medical officer and area administrative officer for further information. On the first day, 113 frontline workers were vaccinated. The vaccination will be carried out on February 9 at Bhandari CHC, 7th NAP hospital and NEEPCO health care centre at Doyang.
Mon: DC Mon Thavaseelan led the Covishield vaccination drive for frontline workers at the Office of DC, Mon. 
According to DIPR report, the drive so far has witnessed 25 sessions of vaccination across the district with each session accommodating 100 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries for the vaccine included District Administration and staff, private healthcare workers, police personnel and other frontline workers. 
Till date, a total of 617 public healthcare workers across the district have been administered with the first dose of Covishield vaccine.
