COVID-19 vaccination and sensitisation programme was organised at PHQ on February 24, 2021. Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland T.J Longkumer was administered the first dose during the vaccination drive.
According to DIPR report, while speaking at the occasion, DGP Nagaland encouraged all ranks and files to undergo vaccination, as the nature of police duty and services required the personnel to be prepared during the pandemic.
According to a release by the SP Crime & PRO, PGQ, sensitisation of police personnel was conducted by CMO Dr. Vezokholu and Dy. CMO and DIO, Dr. Rupert Peseyie at conference hall, PI IQ. The programme was chaired by Asst. Inspector General of Police (OPS), R. Vikram Ezung.
Earlier, the programme was conducted by Dr. John Khuvung, RMO.
The programme was organised by nodal officer for COVID-19, PHQ Kohima and IGP range, Limasunep Jamir. Altogether around 100 police personnel comprising were vaccinated during the drive.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccination consultation workshop with civil society groups and church organisations was held at conference hall, Medical Directorate, Kohima on February 24, 2021.
Principal director, Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Kevichusa in his address said that vaccination was the safest route back to normal lives and urged all health workers to avail the vaccine since February 25 was the last date. He mentioned that a safe and effective vaccine was being made available for all but would be made in a phase manner. The next phase will cover beneficiaries aged 50 years and above and under 50 years with associated co- morbidities as per direction of the Government of India.
Earlier, welcome remarks and introduction was made by Dr Longri Kichu, importance of covid vaccine was addressed by state immunisation officer, DHFW, Dr Ritu Thurr and updates of COVID-19 status was delivered by state nodal officer, IDSP, Dr. Nyan Kikon. SMO WHO, Dr Sheila Longkumer gave an overview and strategy of the vaccination drive, while SPO, UNDP, Dr Temsu Longchar, spoke on COWIN portal.
