COVID-19 vaccinations conducted in Wokha, Zunheboto

COVID-19 vaccinations were conducted in various districts across the state on February 18.

Wokha: Chief medical officer (CMO) Wokha, Dr. CW Tungoe took his second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine at Urban Primary Health Centre Wokha.

According to a press release, the second booster dose was administered to more than 270 health care workers at Chukitong, Wokha sadar, Englan, Sungro, Bhandari, Sanis, Tongtongo and Wozhuro session sites.

CMO Wokha stated that no adverse event following immunisation was reported in any of the session sites and he encouraged all health care workers and frontline workers to take the vaccine to develop full immunity.

The next round for the second dose for health care workers and frontline workers in the district will be held on February 25 and March 9, Dr. Tungoe informed.

Medical officer in-charge, Chukitong Primary Health Centre session site, Dr. Abenthung Murry informed that some health care workers who were hesitant to take the vaccine earlier were coming forward.

Medical officer, Bhandari Community Health Centre, Dr. Renathung Kithan stated that they were continuously carrying out awareness campaign among frontline workers and health care workers to take the vaccine and that the turnout for the second dose at Bhandari CHC session site was positive.

Zunheboto: First dose of corona virus vaccine, covishield vaccination camp falling under the frontline worker’s phase was held at session site, 8th NAP, Dynamic Eight, Batallion Hq, Naltoqa.

According to DIPR report, a medical team led by Dr. Abolu Yeptho from Suruhuto PHC, started the vaccination session with Dy Commandant, 2 I/C, Limasanen Longchar being the first beneficiary to be vaccinated.

After arriving at the observation period, Limasanen while addressing the media persons said that there was no form of any side effects worth mentioning other than a sense of security and that he felt lucky and thankful to be vaccinated.

On being asked about the fear psychosis going on through social media, Lima said that Nagaland had no significant side effects to show till date and that itself should be clear enough for every individual to discourage such false rumours and be ready to be vaccinated.

While appreciating the efforts put together by all concerned in the development of vaccine in such a short period of time, he added that everyone should have a sense of appreciation and gratefulness, by sensitising the general public, from all means possible.

Team head Dr. Abolu Yeptho informed that a total of 135 beneficiaries were registered and that the team would cover the entire targeted beneficiaries.

Earlier, the vaccination drive began with a dedicatory prayer from battalion church secretary, Bimal Mech.

Sensitisation 

on Covid vaccine 

Mokokchung: Sensitisation programme on Covid vaccine was held at conference hall of CMO Mokokchung on February 18. The programme was organised by District Administration in coordination with CMO office Mokokchung.

While delivering his keynote address, Dharam Raj SDO (C) Mokokchung said that the Administration, Medical Department, churches and NGOs should join hands together to disseminate the right information on the vaccine to the masses.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by CMO Mokokchung, Dr. R Chubala Aier and the resource person was ZLO Mokokchung, Dr. Yanger. The programme was attended by representatives from churches, Indian Red Cross Society, members of press club, MTLT, Watsu Mungdang, All Ward Union Mokokchung, District Administration and staff of CMO Mokokchung.

Kiphire: Medical Department Kiphire conducted sensitisation programmes on COVID-19 vaccination for D Coy IRB and 14th IRB Hq. on February 18 in Kiphire.

A press release by district media officer stated that the first sensitisation programme was conducted at D Coy IRB station, New Reserve in Kiphire town with senior dental surgeon, District Hospital Kiphire, Dr. Moangangba Jamir as resource person.

During his address, the doctor spoke about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine and said that covishield was safe and found to be effective.

The programme concluded with a question session, during which the doctor clarified questions and doubts raised by the personnel.

The second sensitisation programme was held at District Hospital Kiphire conference hall with DPO (RCH/UIP), Dr. Pewezo Khalo and Commandant 14th NAP (IR) Battalion, Mongkoyanchu Chang as resource persons.

Dr. Pewezo Khalo in his sensitisation message said the vaccine was scientifically proved for its safety and efficacy and that they shouldn’t have any scepticism toward the vaccine.

He said the government of India had spent their resources only to save its citizens and that they should avail the opportunity when it is provided for free.

Meanwhile, Mongkoyanchu Chang encouraged his personnel to be positive about the vaccine and get vaccinated for their safety and the safety of the community. 

He mentioned that they may be sent out for duty anytime to various parts of the state and even out of the state and in this he shared that taking the vaccine was the safest way to protect them.
