
State Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department has once again stressed on the need for all eligible people to get vaccinated against Covid-19 asserting that vaccines remain highly effective at preventing severe disease and deaths.
In its weekly bulletin released on Saturday, the department expressed concern that deaths were being observed disproportionately among the “unvaccinated”. For maximum protection from the virus, the department emphasized on getting both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. As on October 30, 12,201464 of Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the state.
Further, 122 positive cases and six deaths (Dimapur: 2, Mokokchung:2, Tuensang and Zunheboto 1 each) were reported during the week (October 23-29). The state’s weekly sample positivity rate (WSPR) stood at 2.8% with all the districts reporting WSPR below 5% except for Wokha at 6.6%.
State logs 20 fresh cases: Nagaland on Saturday logged 20 fresh Covid-19 positive cases while no deaths were reported during the day. Of the fresh cases, eight were from Dimapur, five in Mokokchung, three in Kohima, two in Kiphire and one each in Phek and Wokha, taking the total caseload to 31831.
PTI: With 14,313 people testing positive for Covid in a day, India’s total tally of cases rose to 3,42,60,470, while the active cases were recorded at 1,61,555, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death toll climbed to 4,57,740 with 549 more fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
