Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has appealed to the state government for an amicable resolution to the ongoing dispute over the regularization of healthcare workers appointed during Covid-19 pandemic.
In a representation to the chief minister, NMA president Vilanuo Angela Yhome and vice president Malsawmthangi Leyri acknowledged that on December 16, 2025, the state government issued a notification regularizing the services of 97 medical officers engaged during the pandemic. However, NMA said the order was kept on hold following objections raised by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
While recognizing that NSF’s stand was in the broader interest of Naga youth and the integrity of recruitment processes, the NMA highlighted the unprecedented health emergency created by Covid-19 pandemic, which necessitated urgent recruitment through open advertisement, a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD), and eventual regularization in recognition of the frontline workers’ services. NMA also noted the observations and directions issued by the High Court and the Supreme Court on the matter.
Appreciating the invaluable contributions of healthcare workers during the crisis, NMA emphasised that the present impasse the concerned department and the state government were responsible for the present situation. NMA, therefore, sought the intervention of chief minister’s office to bring an amiable solution into the issue. It also appealed that HPC give a fair recommendation at the earliest in all fairness.
