Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie, has issued a clarification regarding the news report “ILP Drive in Dimapur Draws Mixed Reactions.” He stated that no official communication was provided to media persons regarding the sensitization and awareness drive on Inner Line Permit (ILP) at New Market Area.
The Commissioner urged media organizations to practice responsible journalism, warning that false or unverified reports could cause public panic, false alarms, and communal tension. He emphasized the need for accuracy in reporting, reminding media outlets to verify facts before publishing. Media agencies have been advised to exercise caution when disseminating sensitive information to prevent misinformation and unnecessary public distress.
